Acting Sheriff Wayne Woo was appointed as the Placer County Sheriff-Coroner-Marshal on Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors. The Sheriff’s duties include building partnerships, preventing and resolving crime, marshal security of courts and efficient investigation of coroner cases.
A man was arrested after he lead Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a 20-mile pursuit. A Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to conduct a welfare check of a man inside his vehicle along Iowa Hill Road just after midnight on July 10.
After not seeking re-election during this year’s primary election, Placer County Sheriff Devon Bell officially retired from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office on July 6. Bell spent 30 years with the sheriff’s office after joining in 1992 under then-Sheriff Ed Bonner.
